The EAA Witness P Match gun is a large polymer frame semi-automatic version of the EAA Witness Match gun. Both are competition match guns. They look similar, but they actually differ in details. The most important difference is actually not a visible one, but it’s still very substantive. And that’s the fact that the polymer P version weighs 30.4 ounces (1.9 pounds) versus the standard steel frame gun that weighs a rather substantial 44 ounces (2.75 pounds).

In either polymer or steel frame guise, the gun comes in five calibers and has a competition magwell. The 9 mm and .38 Super are both 17+1 guns, while the .40 SW and 10 mm are 14+1s and finally the powerful .45 ACP is a 10+1 configuration. They also have the same general dimensions. So barrel length is 4.75” while overall length is four inches longer at 8.75”. Height is 5” and width is 1.4”.

Now let’s talk differences. This polymer frame firearm is more brutalist with a flush frontal surface, square trigger guard with a deep undercut, standard loop hammer and docked beavertail. The black slide has only rear serrations. The front of the frame lacks an under-muzzle accessory rail. This polymer version has front and rear tactile surfaces on the pistol grip.

Like the steel frame gun, here we have synthetic G10 grips that are screwed further aft than normal. The nearly black G10s have a rear recess that echoes the backstrap’s curve below the beavertail, but the bottom of the backstrap is straight.

The trigger is curved as is the trigger guard that surrounds it.

The gun features front and rear three dot sights. They are black, so they go nicely with the slide. Of these, the rear sight is drift and height adjustable.

The Witness P Match has a black contoured trigger safety that’s a little bit further in front of where such safeties are usually mounted. Both it and the magazine release are both extended. The slide stop is also black.

The trigger is a single-action trigger with over-travel stop and take up adjustment.

EAA stands for European American Armory Corporation and is based in Cocoa, Florida, but the guns are actually made by Fratelli Tanfoglio (The Tanfoglio Brothers) in Brescia, Italy. The Tanfoglio family has been in business making small arms for over 100 years though its descendant Fratelli Tanfoglio firm started operations in 1969. Its pistols have thrice won the IPSC World Championship.
