The new for 2020 Franklin Armory’s BFSIII is an affordable M4-type 5.56 NATO rifle complete with Franklin’s well-known BFSIII Binary Trigger. Let’s talk about that for a second. BFS is short for Binary Firing System. The trigger has three positions. The additional third position makes this the fastest semi-automatic trigger available as it fires one shot when the trigger is pulled and another when it’s released. The result is tighter groups on target.
BFSIII is a black Made in America gun made from Made in American components. The result is a high-quality arm.
The gun has an LTW (lightweight) contour 16” long barrel with a 1 to 7” twist ratio fronted by an A2 bird cage flash suppressor. The gun is enshrouded with a 15” long FST M-LOK mated to the upper receiver. The two are crested by a continuous MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny accessory rail. Underneath is a mid-length gas system and low-profile gas block.
BFSIIIs come sight-ready but do not actually include any sights. The bolt has been treated with a ruggedizing salt bath nitride.
Finally, the lower receiver is Franklin’s own FAI-15 forged of 7075-T6 aluminum. It has a tensioning screw to better mate to the upper receiver. The gun has a diamond-hatched A2 grip and a 6-position triangular M4 stock with an unshielded squeeze-lever along the diagonal ventral surface.
