Grand Power is a relatively new arms manufacturer headquartered in Banská Bystrica in the heart of Slovenia. Its Q1S is a compact striker-fired 9 x 19 mm semi-automatic designed for conceal carry that derives from the Q100. It takes the Q1’s barrel and mates it to a smaller grip, but still comes with a 12-round magazine.

The Q1S comes with standard three-dot sights though other upgrades are available. These include red fiber optic front and rear sights, front green tritium sights and front and rear green fiber optic and tritium sights.

Grand Power uses Tenifer-QPQ finishes on slides, barrels and many other parts in order to provide friction reducing corrosion resistance and increased durability.

The barrel is 3.66” long, overall length is 7.2”, height without magazine is 4.7” and finally width is 1.3”. Because of the polymer frame, weight is kept to 1.43 pounds.

The Grand Power Q1S has unique styling. The gun is black except for the ejection port and a trio of frame pins. The grip has three different surface types, the mag release has concentric serrations, the trigger guard’s front face has horizontal serrations, while the slide has both vertical front serrations and diagonal rear ones. That said, the two 45-degree bevels that separate the slide top from its flanks are particularly eye-catching, and, of course, they are functional since they cut down on the gun’s profile.

What the Grand Power Q1S lacks in styling cohesion, it makes up for in a good feature set.

The gun has a machined stainless steel slide and a medium beavertail polymer frame.

The Q1S uses barrel rotation for locking, which is said to decrease recoil and muzzle flip while increasing accuracy. The button is button rifled using 31CrMoV9 steel.

The very precise single-action trigger requires just 3.6 pounds of pressure. Pulling the trigger unlocks the trigger safety and the drop safety.

The backstrap is straight, but it does have the unique aforementioned grip bands that curve around toward the sides.
