The Hatfield Gun Company’s SGL is an attractive, no-frills, break open, single shot shotgun. It’s a nice piece of work from a company with a long tenure in this space. This right-hand gun is currently available in six models representing 12-gauge, 20-gauge and .410 bore. Each has a blued barrel, blued rib, Turkish walnut forend and stock. And then you get your choice of either a blued or silvered receiver.
For the Hatfield 12-gauge, the 28” smoothbore blue oxide barrel is fronted by a fixed modified choke. On the other end is a 3” chamber while a bead sight crowns the raised rib. The receiver is made of steel. You can get the receiver either matte black (blued) or silvered. In back you get a crossbolt safety. Overall length is 44”, and it weighs 5.5 pounds.
The Hatfield 20-gauge has the same specifications and can also be had with either a matte black (blued) or silvered receiver.
The Hatfield .410 bore is almost the same. Also, the specifications and dimensions are the same except the weight, which comes in a pound lighter at 4.5 pounds. It too can be had with either a matte black (blued) or silvered receiver.
While Hatfield is based in Des Plaines, Illinois, these six models of Hatfield SGLs are Made in Turkey.
