Remarkable. That’s the one word description of the Howa Australian Precision Chassis bolt action rifle. It’s a long-range wonder you can get in 6.5 Creedmoor or .308 Win in three barrel lengths: 20”, 24” or in a 26” heavy barrel. The gun also has threaded muzzle options.

This gun has a free-floating M-LOK type handguard that makes accessorizing easy.

Howa likes collaborating with Hogue, so it’s no surprise the gun comes standard with a lightweight, hollow Hogue finger groove pistol grip. It’s made of thermoplastic elastomer and has cobblestone texturing on the sides.

In back is a fully adjustable American-made LUTH-AR MBA-4 stock. This notched corner rectangular stock mates to the APC via a 6-position buffer tube. The strong and lightweight MBA-4 is versatile, but weighs just 9.5 ounces. MBA stands for Modular Buttstock Assembly. With such a name, you won’t be surprised that it can be adjusted for comb height and length of pull. It’s a skeletonized design made of glass-filled nylon. It even has a small accessory rail along its bottom.

The gun’s two-stage curved zero creep Howa Activated Controlled Trigger. This HACT trigger has crisp, clean, breaks.

The Howa APC has a three-position safety and a red-dot safety indicator, both near the base of the bolt arm. Speaking of which, the bolt is a two-lug design made of forged steel with an integrated bolt arm. The receiver is also forged steel and the barrels are hammer forged.

Some Howa APCs have the optional Nikko Stirling Diamond Illuminated Long Range 30 mm 4-16x50 aluminum scope. This affordable scope mounts on an EGW 20 MOA elevated scope base that bridges the ejector area. The scope is nitrogen-filled to prevent fogging. It’s also waterproof, shockproof, 14.5” long and weighs a pound. Adjustments are made using turrets in ¼ MOA clicks. It has dual red/green illumination and Microlux ETE GEN III glass coatings.

This gun also comes standard with a 10-round magazine. The Made in Japan Howa APC is a compelling package at what is often a compelling price.
