The Howa H-S Precision is a Japanese bolt-action rifle. Its stock starts with a high quality machined aluminum bedding block, hand laminated Kevlar, fiberglass and carbon fiber in a mold that’s injected with Howa’s special dense polyurethane foam material. This is hand-finished for perfect fit.

The H-S Precision has numerous calibers in 22” and 24” length barrels. 22” barrels are available for .22-250 REM, .243 Winchester, 6.5 mm Creedmoor, .308 Winchester, .270 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield. The 24” barrel is for 7 mm Remington Magnum, .300 Winchester Magnum, .300 PRC and 6.5 PRC. Most have a 1 to 10” twist. The .22-25 Remington has a 1 to 12” twist, while the 7 mm Remington Magnum has a 1 to 9.5” twist, the .300 PRC a 1 to 8.5” twist and the two 6.5s have a 1 to 8” twist.

The 22” barrel length guns are 42.25” long and weigh 7.6 pounds while the 24” barrel guns are 44.75” long and weigh 7.8 pounds.

The H-S Precision is available with an optional Nikko Stirling optics package. It also has two color choices: olive drag green or gray, both with a standard back barrel. In either case, the main components are black, meaning the receiver, barrel, scope, scope rail, trigger, magazine release, magazine, buttstock pad, etc.

Above the gun is the aforementioned optional Nikko Stirling Diamond Illuminated Long Range 30 mm 4-16x50 aluminum scope that mounts on an EGW 20 MOA elevated scope base that bridges the ejector area. The scope is nitrogen-filled to prevent fogging. It’s also waterproof, shockproof, 14.5” long and weighs a pound.

The gun has swivel studs at front and back and it also has a ventral magazine just aft of the trigger.

Howa USA is based in Reno, Nevada. It’s an importer of guns and a subdivision of Legacy Sports International. Howa USA imports its guns from Howa Machinery, Ltd. In Japan, a firm established in the late 1930s as a defense contractor to make aircraft parts, rifles and more. Post-war, it made a variety of weapons for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces and entered the US market in the 1950s where it has sold firearms ever since.
