The Kimber KHX Pro is a 4” long barrel compact conceal carry single-stack semi-automatic available in either 9+1 capacity 9 mm or 7+1 .45 ACP. The Pro features a red fiber optic front sight, stellar hexagonal slide serrations, red laser G10 grips and brooding matte dark gray looks courtesy Kimber’s tough KimPro II finish.

Pro sounds like an upscale trim level, but in fact, it’s just Kimber’s size classification. Thus the Pro mates a shorter barrel and slide to the full-size KHX Custom’s frame. The resulting main dimensions are fairly standard. The barrel is 4” long. Height is 5.25”, length is 7.7” and width is 1.28”. Overall weight is 35 ounces for the .45 ACP model or 28 ounces for the 9 mm model.

This gun’s three largest components, the slide, frame and barrel, are all machined out of high-quality stainless steel.

The slide is beautiful. It has barrel vaulting and vertical flanks. It also has stunning deeply recessed hexagonal rear serrations arranged in a stair-step pattern.

Atop the slide is a bright red fiber optic front sight that will give you fast target acquisition times. The rear sight has a curved ramp leading edge and white dots in back. The sight radius between is 5.7”.

The KHX Pro has a loop hammer, an upturned beavertail and below it, a grip safety.

As already mentioned, the match-grade barrel is also made of stainless steel. It has a 1 to 16” LH twist for both 9 mm and .45 ACP. Kimber hasn’t skimped on the details. For instance, the gun has a full-length guide rod for smoother slide movements and improved longevity. It also features a 14-pound recoil spring for the .45 ACP model or 22-pound spring for the 9 mm model.

The trigger guard makes a standard M1911 oval. Inside, the curved premium aluminum trigger has double-oval porting and is factory-set to 4.0 to 5.0 pounds.

Kimber collaborates with Hogue of Henderson, Nevada for its G10 polymer grips. Both .45 ACP and 9 mm models KHX Pro grips are hexagonal snakeskin patterned Hogue Magrip G10 polymer grips with the red laser enhancement atop the right grip. The hexagons echo those on the slide. The grip’s frontstrap has Stiplex texturing and the backstrap has additional Magrip texturing too.

The KHX Pro OR (Optics Ready) model is a variant of the KHX Pro. It is similar except three things. First, its slide is already cut open to accept optic plates. Thus you can integrate various red dot reflex sights from Leupold, Trijicon and Vortex. Second, it also has a smaller two white dot rear sight co-witness optic plate already fitted. And third, the right grip lacks the red laser.
