The MG Arms Wraithe 1911 semi-automatic pistol adds a Texas twist to the familiar favorite 1911 type design. MG Arms is in Spring, Texas north of Houston. Its production and development work is by Kerry and Carol O’Day who have been in businesses since 1980. They’ve put together a product line of nine guns, mostly rifles. The Wraithe 1911 semi-automatic is the elegant outlier.

The Wraithe 1911 has two finishes designed for increased durability and wear-resistance: PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene, i.e. Teflon) or Cerakote. Color choices are blue titanium (slide and frame) or an olive drab slide with a titanium frame. Either choice is truly fetching.

The Wraithe 1911 has stand-out styling. The eye first falls across the slide. The slide is ported near the muzzle with a quartet of recessed ovals on either side. There is a similar trio by the recoil spring housing. Dovetailed into the slide are three-dot night-time sights. At back are diagonal grip serrations and a 1911-style skeletonized stainless steel hammer with a nice serrated thumb pad.

The beaver tail is long and upturned, and just below it is the ambidextrous beavertail grip safety. The curved triple ported match-grade trigger is set for a very light 3.5 pounds of pull pressure. The gun has G10 custom grips fastened by an unusual pair of tamper resistant hexalobular screws and the grip ends in a bobcat tail.

Let’s cover some more details. The Wraithe 1911 comes in two calibers, .45 ACP or 9mm, while the frame can be either aluminum or titanium. The barrel that’s visible through the muzzle ports is 4.5” and match-grade quality. Weight comes out to about 25 ounces. The gun generally comes with two Wilson magazines.
