The 5+1 capacity Mossberg 500 Turkey and Mossberg 500 Turkey - Tactical Turkey are affordable, high-quality, feature-rich pump-action shotguns spanning 12-gauge, 20-gauge and .410 bore variants. There are three Mossberg 500 Turkey production models and a single tightly related Mossberg 500 Turkey - Tactical Turkey model. All feature the common receiver and action they share with all other Mossberg 500 models. Incidentally, 500 series started production in 1962, has sold millions and is one of history’s most successful shotguns.

Back to the four 500 Turkey guns. We can group them by their shared traits. For instance, all have front red fiber optic sights, vent ribs, nicely done forend and grip texturing, Mossy Oak camouflage and blued barrels.

Like the rest of Mossberg’s 500 “turkey” shotguns, this group features dual extractors. Break open the gun, and spent casings await easy removal. They have twin action bars. An anti-jam elevator gets you endless smooth operations. There is positive steel to steel lockup. The sliding red dot tang safety is ergonomically ideal and ambidextrous.

Their classic American stocks are backed by a thick black “checkered” recoil pad. It’s skeletonized and does a great job soaking recoil. Integrated sling swivel mounts peak at front from the magazine cap and on the stock’s bottom slope.

The .410 enjoys a 24” barrel, 13.87” length of pull (LOP), 45.75” overall length and weighs just 6.5 pounds. The barrel, vent rib, receiver, forend and stock are swathed in realistic Mossy Oak Bottomland camo that uses dirt and mottled tree park colors. Of course, the forend and stock are both synthetic. It has a X-Full Extended tube fixed choke.

The 12-gauge model has a 20” barrel, short 40.25” overall length and weighs 7.0 pounds. Instead of Mossy Oak Bottomland, it’s covered in a ridiculously effective leafy green forest / mottled tree bark Mossy Oak Obsession camo that’s optimized for spring and fall. It uses a matte black X-Factor ported Turkey tube choke.

The 20-gauge gun has a 22” length barrel, 39.25” overall length and weighs 6.75 pounds. It is otherwise the same as the 12-gauge.

The Mossberg 500 Turkey - Tactical Turkey is a 12-gauge with a 20” barrel. It has a bottom lever-actuated FLEX six-position synthetic stock. This adjustable tactical wonder permits an almost 4” length of pull from 10.75” to 14.625”. It has a nicely contoured, very thick FLEX pad and a shell holder. Weight is 7.25 pounds.

Capacity is either 6+1 (six in the tube and one in the chamber) for 2-3/4” shells or 5+1 for 3” shells.
