The Mossberg MC-2C compact semi-automatic 9 mm pistol combines a slim profile, 13+1 capacity, rugged looks, striker-fired simplicity and more into an efficient, dynamic package that weighs 21 ounces unloaded and 29 ounces loaded. Key dimensions are a 3.9” long barrel, 4.9” height, 1.1” width and 7.1” length.
The MC-2C slide is made of 416 stainless steel and depending on model has either a black or stainless steel DLC (diamond like coated) finish that provides wonderful durability. The design is nicely realized with a flat top and long beveled flanks. The sides feature tightly spaced forward-facing serrations in front and back.
The 3.9” long barrel also has a DLC finish and is also made of 416 stainless steel. It also has a 1:16 RH twist.
Both the front and rear sights are low-profile and snag-free. Both are drift adjustable and dovetailed into the slide. Standard sights are three white-dot. But one can also get these guns with factory installed TRUGLO Tritium Pro Night Sights. The 6.4” sight radius is very nice for this size gun.
Between sights and finish colors, there are five combinations.
MC-2C has a glass-reinforced matte-black polymer frame. It has a beautifully executed grip. The back has a nice arched palmswell. In front, the grip has subtle finger recesses. Both front and back have large horizontal texture bands, and the sides have hatched sections of Mossberg signature grip texturing. The grip ends high up as is typical of striker-fired pistols and then morphs into a medium beavertail beneath the slide rear.
Underneath the return spring housing is an integral single-slot Picatinny accessory rail for you to mount your lasers and more.
The trigger has a flat face and a built-in trigger safety to help prevent accidental discharges. Trigger pull is 5.5 pounds and trigger travel is just .5”. The trigger guard has a vertical front face with nice horizontal serrations. Its base bulges down some and then ends in a medium undercut.
The gun includes the Mossberg STS (Safe Takedown System) that requires the user render the gun safe before taking it down.
The magazine release is reversible for right-hand or left-hand shooters. Speaking of which, the gun comes standard with both a flush-fitting 13-round magazine and a 15-round extended magazine. Both are double stack.
