The sleek Remington Model 572 .22 LR pump-action had models such as the 572 A Fieldmaster and the more advanced 572 BDL Deluxe. The guns had a 21” long barrel and barrel banded below, a tube magazine with a 20 Short, 17 Long and 14 Long Rifle .22 capacity. Both models featured American walnut semi-beavertail forends and half pistol grip stocks coupled with a blued receiver, barrel and other key metal components.

These hammerless guns were 40” and weighed 5.5” pounds. Remington engineered them with positive cross bolt safeties and grooved the receivers for tip-off scope mounts.

The 572 A was a very clever starter gun. The cartridge feed was designed to prevent jams and make feeding ammo effortless. And an instructor or parent (or anyone else) could remove the tube magazine, transforming the gun into a single shot. The magazine reattached easily to convert it back into a fast, short-stroke, perfect for plinking repeating rifle.

The 572 BDL Deluxe was like the 572 A but with a beautiful DuPont protective scratch and water-resistant RK-W finish. Many Remingtons featured such rugged DuPont protection for a reason: DuPont owned Remington for decades starting in the 1930s.

The BDL sported a front ramp sight. In back was a fully adjustable rear sight for easy tweaks to windage and elevation. Furthering the “deluxe”, Remington fine line checkered the forend and beautifully curved grip. A sling strap and installed swivel studs was a further optional upgrade.
