The Rock River Arms (RRA) Fred Eichler Predator LAR-15M Series counts four members: Predator, Light Predator2L, Predator2 and Predator2 with 30mm Hi-Rise Scope Mount. Each has a .223 Wylde chamber for both 5.56mm NATO and .223 calibers. Each is a 20+1 capacity semi-automatic AR-type with a Fred Eichler series handguard that starts with radial pattern circular porting in front and has a cool paw print trail of ports after that. After that, the four vary in barrel lengths, color and more.

First up is Fred Eichler Series Predator2. The upper and lower receiver and muzzle brake are matte black, the barrel is a bead-blasted stainless steel, and the grip and stock are tan.

The upper receiver is a forged A4-type that’s crested by a long accessory rail. The lower receiver is a forged RRA LAR-15M RRA uses for many other guns. The aforementioned Fred Eichler Series handguard is matte black and free floating with a top MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail and M-LOK flank slots. It also includes a trio of 2.5” Picatinny rails to install at 3’, 6’ and 9’ o’clock. Mostly hidden inside the handguard, you get a mid-length gas system that connects to a low-profile gas block.

The Predator2 features a carbine-length 16” bead-blasted stainless-steel barrel with a 1:8” twist ratio. It’s fronted by a 1/2"–28 TPI matte black RRA Directionally Tuned & Ported Brake with circular ports concentrated along the upper surfaces. It has BCMGUNFIGHTER Medium Latch charging handle. It also gets an RRA Star Safety with a pattern of serrations that radiate in all directions from a central point, hence the name.

Below, you’ll see a matte tan Hogue grip. Hogue is terrifically popular for good reason. This rubber grip has three semi-circular finger grooves and nice texturing. An oversize concave trigger guard frames out ample room for gloved fingers to operate around the gun’s RRA two-stage trigger.

In back you have two options that thus define two models. One is a tan fixed length-of-pull RRA Operator A2 stock. It makes the gun 36” overall and weigh 7.6 pounds. The other one is RRA’s Operator CAR stock. It’s lever-actuated and collapsible with six positions. It includes an integral non-slip textured buttpad, two watertight battery storage tubes and a receiver extension. Weight is the same, but it spans only 34” overall.

These great components and quality construction delivers superb 3/4 MOA accuracy at 100 yards. Total weight empty is just 7.2 pounds, and the gun comes standard with a 20-round mag.

Second, the Fred Eichler Series Light Predator2L LAR-15M is largely the same as above, except, it’s got a lighter carbon fiber handguard. It comes with just one extra Picatinny rail section. The barrel is still bead blasted stainless-steel, but it’s also fluted. The flutings subtract weight, increase surface cooling area and add a good dollop of beauty.

The Predator2L LAR-15M is fronted by a 1/2"–28 TPI RRA Fred Eichler Series Brake. It features chevrons facing front and back. Moreover, you can get the upper and lower receiver in matte black or in a splendidly attractive RRA ROCKote Gunmetal Gray. Accuracy is 1 MOA at 100 yards. Overall length is 33.5”, and weight is 6.9 pounds.

Third, the Fred Eichler Series Predator2 LAR-15M is like the second model except it has the standard handguard (from the first model) instead of the carbon fiber one. In back, your options are the fixed length-of-pull RRA Operator A2 stock that makes overall length 35.5” or RRA’s six-position Operator CAR stock that makes the overall length 33.5”. You can get either of these in tan for the handguard, upper and lower receiver or Gunmetal Gray ROCKote for the same. Thus, there are four choices in all, and all configurations weigh 7.6 pounds.

Fourth is the Fred Eichler Series Predator2 LAR-15M with 30mm Hi-Rise Scope Mount and RRA ROCKote Ghost Camouflage. It includes an elevated RRA 30mm Hi-Rise Scope Mount that attaches to the upper receiver’s top rail. And the Ghost camo is a gray on white camo over the stock, upper and lower receiver and handguard. It gets the RRA six-position Operator CAR stock that makes overall length 33.5”, and this variant weighs 7.6 pounds. It is otherwise the same as the other Predator2 guns.
