Rossi Tuffy is a lineup of single-shot .410 bore shotguns featuring large thumbhole polymer rear stocks and nicely contoured forends. There are five Tuffys in all. Four feature an 18.5” barrel while one has a 26” barrel. These guns are ridiculously cheap and yet still rich with thoughtful details.

To wit, the forends and pistol grips have excellent diamond pattern texturing. The forend has simple linear geometry without fancy contours, but it’s still comfortable to grip. The barrels have a bead sight.

The 18.5” barrel guns have a perfectly positioned thumb manual safety on the left. The opening lever is adjacent to the hammer. Just push it to break open the gun for reloading. A much appreciated feature is the have keyed trigger lock that bolts into the trigger guard/trigger assembly. They also have a transfer bar safety. Drop them, and they won’t fire.

Their stocks are beautifully designed, a paragon of simplicity, rigidity, light weight and functionality. For starters, the thumbhole is a huge polygon. Of the rest, both sides have a large deep recessed space to which is attached a matching pair of 4-round shotgun shell holders – thus storage for eight rounds total. Behind this is a thick non-slip black rubber buttpad. It also has a strap swivel loop to compliment one that’s under the forend.

The 18.5” barrel Rossi Tuffy shotguns are available in four colors: olive drab, matte black, tan and gray. The color is for the forend and stock. Everything else such as the receiver, barrel, and all the various controls, fasteners, buttpad, shell holders, trigger, trigger guard, etc., are matte black. These four guns measure 31” overall and weigh just 2.95 pounds.

The 26” barrel gun is the same as its four 18.5” barrel siblings except as follows. It has a cross-bolt safety in lieu of the transfer bar safety found on the 18.5” barrel guns. It also has an accessory rail on top for red-dot optics or scopes. It’s a 3-inch chamber shotgun, and it comes standard with an “extra full” choke tube. Overall length is 41.0”, and it weighs 4.0 pounds even. And, to quote Henry Ford, “you can get it in any color you want, as long as it’s black.”
