The superbly retro single-action Ruger Blackhawk 6-round revolvers combine classic style with modern construction. There are four calibers: 30 Carb, 41 Rem Mag, 357 Mag and 45 Colt. Also the 357s are dual chambered so they can also work with .38 Special ammo.
On top is a ramp front sight and in back an adjustable rear sight.
A much appreciated feature is the transfer bar safety. It keeps the transfer bar out of the way until the trigger is pulled. Thus the gun won’t fire if it’s dropped. The barrels are cold hammer forged and rifled benefiting tensile strength and accuracy.
In back is a traditional arched grip that thrills with how comfortably it fills your hand for improved aim. There’s also a loading gate interlock for additional safety. So how do the models differ?
The 41 Rem Mag, 357 Mag and 45 Colt are all available with a 4.62” barrel and an overall 10.50” length weighing 38 to 42 ounces. There is a 45 Colt that has a 5.50” barrel, overall length 11.38” that weighs 40 ounces. The 41 Rem Mag and 357 Mag can also be had in 6.50” barrel, 12.38” overall that weigh 41 and 45 ounces respectively. Finally the big guns from this array are the 45 Colt and 30 Carb. Both have 7.50” long barrels and 13.38” overall lengths. The 45 weighs 42 ounces while the 30 Carb weighs 46.
All eight models have a blued alloy steel barrel, fluted cylinders, curved triggers in an oval trigger guard and black diamond-checkered hard rubber grips. The hammers and triggers are stainless, but everything else is black or blued.
