Ruger’s PC Carbine is a family of nearly 20 different semi-automatics designed around Ruger’s 16.12” length barrel. However, many of these are state compliant variants restricted to 10 round magazines or models exclusive to specific distributors such as Sports South, Lipsey’s, Bill Hicks and Talo. Let’s take a look at the remaining five models. Four are chambered for 9 mm Luger and come with a 17 round stick magazine while the outlier is chambered for .40 S&W and has a 15 round stick magazine.

All are built around a cold hammer-forged threaded heavy contour barrel that’s been fluted for lighter weight and easier handling. The barrel is 16.12” long, has six grooves and is made of chrome-moly steel. The 9 mm Luger barrel has a 1 to 10” RH twist while the .40 S&W’s is 1 to 16” RH.

There is a base carbine model for each caliber. These are on standard synthetic stocks and come in black. The remaining models are all for 9 mm Luger ammunition. Two of these add a free-floating handguard made of aluminum. One has a black stock while the other is identical except it has a special American flag camouflage scheme.

Each of these four models has the same stock design and the same receiver made of 7075-T6 aluminum alloy that’s been Type III hard-coat anodized for extended wear resistance and improved durability. At back is a butt stock that comes with three .5” spacer pads permitting length of pull configurations of 12.62” to 14.12”.

In all four models, overall length is 34.37”. All four models also share the same sights. This means a blade front sight and an adjustable ghost ring aperture sight above the end of the forestock. All have a long dorsal Picatinny rail, a three-slot Picatinny rail aft of the forestock, curved trigger guard, swivel studs and more!

The two base guns weigh 6.6 pounds. The two models with the milled Magpul M-LOK handguard weigh a bit more at 7 pounds. The M-LOK handguard has M-LOK compatible accessory attachment points on top, bottom and both sides.

Finally, the new top of the line Ruger PC 9 mm carbine Model 19122 adds a hollow triangle six-position telescoping Magpul MOE buttstock. It connects via a specially designed receiver extension that can mate with both commercial and Mil-Spec aftermarket stocks. With this adjustability and the different stock, the overall length is now a variable 32.25” to 35.50” and weight bumps up a tad from 7.0 pounds to 7.3 pounds. The 19122 lacks sights, but it has two Picatinny rails along the top.

All five guns have an interchangeable magazine well making the Ruger PC compatible with both Ruger and Glock magazines. They also have reversible charging handles and reversible magazine releases for ambidextrous use.
