The Ruger Precision Rifle is actually a family of 15 different high-performance long-range rifles, but seven are exclusive to specific distributors such as Talo or Davidson’s, so we’ll focus on the remaining eight.

What these eight Precision Rifles have in common are things like the one-piece bolt, the very strong machined 4140 chrome-moly steel upper receiver, the lighter weight 7075-T6 aluminum lower receiver and the marksman adjustable trigger with a pull weight of 2.25 to 5 pounds. The stocks are Type III Black Hard-Coat Anodized.

All eight have a cold hammer-forged 5R rifling barrel and Ruger’s own Precision MSR folding stock with its adjustable comb and adjustable length of pull. These adjustments are easy to make with a pair of levers. All eight also have a black hard-coat anodized aluminum free-float handguard. Its cross-section is octagonal, and it features M-LOK slots at top, bottom and both sides.

When not in use, the stocks fold back to the left (clockwise).

All eight Precision Rifles have a threaded muzzle with a 5/8""-24 thread pattern and a muzzle guard for when needed. Now let’s examine their differences.

Four are 10 round magazine firearms. These are the .308 Win (20” long barrel; 1:10” RH twist ratio; 9.8 pounds overall weight), 6 Creedmoor (24”; 1:7.7”; 10.8) 6 Creedmore (26”; 1:7.7”; 11) and 6.5 Creedmoor (24”; 1:8” RH; 10.7 pounds).

The 6.5 PRC (26” long barrel; 1:8” RH twist ratio; 11 pounds) is an 8 round magazine gun.

These five have a medium contour barrel and a Ruger Precision Rifle Hybrid Muzzle Brake. It vents gases to either side and helps reduce recoil.

And finally the .338 Lapua Mag, .300 Win Mag and .300 PRC all have 5 round magazines, 26” length barrels, length of pulls 12.70” to 16.20”, 7.50” heights, 3.50” widths, folded lengths of 40.35” and overall lengths of 49"" to 52.50"". This trio also has and heavy contour barrel and the Ruger Precision Rifle Magnum Muzzle Brake. You can adjust the brake’s compensator to help muzzle rise and recoil. Get your bipods ready since each of these three weighs 15.2 pounds.

The Ruger Precision Rifle is a very solid platform with excellent ergonomics and very impressive accuracy. Details abound. For instance, there’s onboard wrench storage so you don’t have to fiddle with time trying to find one when you need it. Another clever design element is the little Picatinny rail under butt stock. It even comes with its own rail guard for when not in use

All the guns have muzzle brakes and come with a pair of magazines. These firearms are versatile. You can use many AR-15 style components such as AR-15 style handguards, butt stocks or triggers. All of these can plug and use with this versatile rifle.
