Quality abounds on the fun, single-bolt Ruger American Rimfire Stainless action rifle. The Rimfire is good looking, its stainless steel barrel is both impressively durable and very accurate, and it proudly has in all capital letters the words “RUGER AMERICAN” laser etched on the barrel.

So why buy a Ruger American Rimfire? Simple. This rifle is built for longevity and worry-free ease of use. The bolt-action is slick and fast, which is part of what makes this rifle so much fun. This gun comes standard with a Ruger BX-1 ten round rotary magazine that fits flush into the bottom center of the rifle’s durable polymer stock. But American Rimfire rifles also accept other 10/22 magazines including the curved BX-15, BX-25 and even 50 round BX-25x2 types that protrude from the bottom.

While steel barrel versions of the Ruger American Rimfire come in 22” standard and 18” compact, the Ruger American Rimfire Stainless version has an 18” barrel that comes in three calibers: .22 LR, .22 WMR and .17 HMR.

The lightweight polymer stock is excellent and can be extended with a soft rubber butt stock that comes with the gun. This rifle comes with a factory installed scope ready one-piece aluminum rail mounted just above the receiver and thus lacks gunsights. At the same time, threaded screw mounts make it bipod (or tripod or monopod) ready.

The Ruger American Rimfire’s adjustable Marksman trigger can easily be calibrated to between 3 to 5 pounds of pressure using an Allen wrench. The sliding (tang) safety on the back is audible and displays a red dot when the safety is off so you’ll have a visual indicator that it’s ready to fire. Steel sling swivel studs feel higher in quality than the permanently built in molded studs on some other rifles.

This rifle is designed for flexible modularity. You can purchase and attach various slings or bipods. The scope rail can handle either 3/8” Rimfire scopes or Weaver #12 bases.

Except the heavy gauge stainless gun barrel, the overall impression is of black. The heavy duty composite polymer stock, molded grip, and magazine are all black.

Want to clean your gun? The bolt removes easily with the push of a button. Unscrew two screws to remove the action from the stock.

A detachable butt stock comes out of the box with each new rifle. To remove it, just unscrew the rear sling swivel stud, take off the butt stock, then return the sling stud to where it was. Bolt throw is only 60 degrees, which makes for shorter, slicker movements while simultaneously allowing more room between the bolt and the scope.

The stainless Rimfire is capped with a half 28 barrel thread and comes with a thread protector that protects the muzzle when not in use with an optional suppressor.
