The SAR USA Model 2000 is a compelling 17+1 capacity 9x19mm hammer-fired steel frame semi-automatic. This double-action/single-action (DA/SA) pistol features a 4.5” barrel, low profile sights and a crowned barrel for enhanced accuracy.

The gun’s width is 1.4”, height is 5.5” and overall length is 8.0”. Thanks to its high-quality CNC machine forged stainless steel frame, weight is 35.2 ounces, or a bit over two pounds. The gun can be had in either all matte black (blued) or matte stainless.

The good-looking slide is cut back a bit at the front. The rear has diagonal grip serrations. The sights are fixed dovetailed 3-white dot types. At back of the frame is a thumb safety. It and the slide release and magazine release are all on the left.

The clean-breaking trigger has a scimitar curve and sits nicely inside a classic oval trigger guard that ends with a comfort inducing undercut where it joins the frame. At the other end is a long beavertail that couples with a narrowed neck grip to give better control. The grip has rubber diamond checker side texturing with stippling in front and back.

The gun comes with a pair of flush mounting 17-round double-stack steel magazines all adding to a formula of good, basic gun value.

SAR USA is based in Des Plaines, Illinois. It’s the American importer of these guns operating on behalf of Sarsilmaz Silah Sanayi. Sarsilmaz is headquartered on the Asian side of beautiful Istanbul, but the manufacturing plant is located in Düzce, between Istanbul and Ankara in Turkey. They have made arms since 1880 when Turkey was still the Ottoman Empire. It’s still a family run private business, but it’s the exclusive supplier of pistols for Turkey’s armed forces and its national police.
