SIG Sauer’s new full-size P210 9 mm Luger 8+1 target pistol is as elegant as they come. Key dimensions are its 5.0” long carbon steel barrel, 8.4” overall length, 6.7” sight radius, 5.25” height, 1.54” width and 36.9 ounce weight.

At a time when so many high-end M1911 type target pistols look dramatically high-tech, the modern P210 is perhaps best described as art-deco. Why? Simple. Because superficially, at least, the P210 eschews optical sights, lasers, Picatinny rails, loop hammers, G10 polymer grips and more.

Instead, this firearm sticks with a clean look. The slide is stainless steel. Slide movements are very controlled and precise, in part because of the way SIG has designed rails directly into the slide, which is visible when the slide is pulled back. When the slide is in its normal position, there is no wiggling.

Atop the slide are low profile sights. The front one is fiber optic while aft is the rear sight, which is adjustable for elevation and windage. The slide front lacks grip serrations though there are a number at back. The top of the slide is contoured and slightly taller at back than in the front. The frame is nitron finished stainless steel. Both thumb safety and slide safety are beveled and curved without a single harsh line. The beavertail is long, elegant and curved upward.

Best of all is the tall, elegant walnut that wraps around the sides and back of the grip. Even panel grain is sloped in parallel to the grip, accentuating its height that reaches almost to the slide and punctuating the gun’s size. The grip front reveals the frame and subtle horizontal metal hatching though it has a prominent boot toe. This same metal hatching pattern is on the front trigger rest. The walnut backstrap is of a wave design rather than the usual simple bulge. Both the sides and back are diagonally hatched for grip. This gun is a beauty.

This P210 updates the classic P210, but it also has some improved ergonomics. That said, the magazine release is only on the right. The gun has a squared trigger guard with an index finger rest, and inside is a match quality single action only target trigger with a light, crisp 3.5 pound trigger pull.

This firearm comes with two eight round flush-mounting single-stack steel magazines. These magazines have witness holes permitting easy count of how many rounds remain inside when a magazine is removed.
