The striker-fired SIG Sauer P320 X-Carry is the medium version of the highly regarded P320 line of polymer semi-automatic pistols. In SIG Sauer parlance, its pistols fall into five sizes. From largest to smallest, they are full, carry, compact, subcompact and microcompact. Thus the P320 X-Carry fits between the full-size P320 XFive and the P320 XCompact.

The X marks SIG Sauer’s elite series of P320s. The P320 X-Carry is slightly smaller in every dimension than the standard SIG Sauer P320 XFive, for instance. The P320 X-Carry’s overall length is 7.4”, versus 8.6” for the standard size P320 XFive. The barrel is 3.9” (versus 5.0”), width 1.3” (versus 1.3”), height 5.3” (versus 5.8”) and finally, its weight is only 26.5 ounces (versus 35.0).

The slightly more compact dimensions of the X-Carry make it easier to conceal and easier to use than the full-size P320 series semi-automatics.

This 9 mm gun comes with a trio of 17 round twin-stack magazines.

This SIG Sauer pistol comes standard integrated with X-RAY3 daytime/nighttime sights instead of simple sight posts or blades. The front sight is a green dot inside a green luminescent circle while the rear sight has white luminescent circles. The notched rear sight is horizontally serrated to mitigate reflections. The benefit is that these daytime/nighttime gunsights permit the gun to be used under a variety of lighting conditions.

Along the top of the barrel, a loaded chamber indicator shows when there’s a round in the chamber. And unusually, the rear has a black sight plate permitting upgrades to a SIG Romeo 1 red dot reflex sight. The top of the slide includes a rectangular lightening port just aft of the front sight.

The SIG Sauer P320 X-Carry is comfortable. Everything is where you’d expect it and want it. The frame is stainless steel. The beavertail is extended for improved comfort. This gun feels good in the hand and looks good too. The flat trigger is an upgrade over the standard curved trigger of the standard P320 pistols. This one slopes out toward the bottom of the trigger guard and then breaks when the trigger is brought to vertical. Trigger pull is a constant 6.0 pounds. The front of the trigger guard itself is vertical and has serrations for enhanced feel, while the trigger guard has a rather deep undercut. Underneath the muzzle barrel is a three-slot accessory rail for laser sights, etc.

The polymer X-Carry Grip Module is nicely designed with texturing that extends to the height of the beavertail. And at the base is a four-sided beveled magwell.

The SIG Sauer P320 X-Carry’s materials are weighted just right, neither too heavy nor too light, and yet everything feels very rugged and long-lasting. The slide is Nitron finished stainless steel, the frame is stainless steel and the barrel is carbon steel. Everything has been assembled with tight manufacturing tolerances.

In 2018, the Danish Ministry of Defense selected this gun to outfit its army, navy, air force and special operations and replace any existing pistols carried by those service branches.
