The SIG Sauer P250 hammer-fired semi-automatic is both the pioneer and still a masterpiece of modularity and flexibility some hailed as the most revolutionary semi-automatic in years when it debuted circa 2007. And for good reason. The central point is the stainless steel upper receiver/interchangeable trigger group (also referred to as the Firing Control Unit or FCU) that houses key parts like the trigger, internal hammer, etc. Interestingly, it is actually this component that is serialized. And it is this component SIG denotes as the frame.

The modular architecture then permits one to swap different slides, barrels and what SIG calls the Grip Module Assembly, which is what one normally might consider the frame. These strong, weight-saving, polymer Grip Module Assemblies come in one color (black) and three sizes: full, compact and subcompact. These use the 4.7”, 3.9” and 3.6” barrels respectively. All three can utilize .40 S&W, .45 ACP and 9 mm. However, the compact frame guns can also fire .22 LR and .380 ACP.

P250s use black Nitron stainless steel slides, a one-piece Grip Module Assembly and contrast sights. Some P250s use SIGLIGHT night sights.

The Sig Sauer P250 Compact is, no surprise, the compact grip/frame version of the P250. It features a four-slot Picatinny rail under the recoil spring housing, finger recesses above the grip and a horizontally serrated vertical face on the trigger guard. In back is a medium beavertail. The magazine catch is reversible and slide catch is ambidextrous. The grip is textured with a gently bulged palmswell.

The P250 Compact has a 5.6” sight radius. Its double-action only (DAO) trigger has an impressive 6.5 pounds of trigger pull weight. Other significant metrics? Width is 1.4”, height is 5.3” and overall length is 7.2”. Weight with magazine is 26.5 ounces (1.66 pounds).

The Compact’s five calibers have diverse magazine capacities. They are .22 LR (10 rounds), .380 ACP (15 rounds), .40 S&W (13 rounds), .45 ACP (9 rounds) and 9 mm (15 rounds).

The Sig Sauer P250 was generally retired in 2016 except the .22 LR P250 22 Target model that was retired by 2018. The P250 22 Target is essentially the same as already covered above except its slide is black hard-coat anodized, and its DAO trigger has a 9.0 pound pull weight.

At GunBroker.com, you’ll find plenty to like with the modular architecture of these engaging Sig Sauer P250 Compact semi-automatics.
