The striker-fired SIG Sauer P365 Nitron Micro-Compact (model 365-9-BXR3) is the company’s micro-compact semi-automatic 9 mm pistol with a full-size high capacity 10+1 configuration and a flush magazine. The P365 fits between a carry gun and a micro-conceal gun. Rather remarkably, the overall length is only 5.8” and the barrel is 3.1”. The SIG’s height is only 4.3” and perhaps most impressively, the gun’s width is a slim 1.06” permitting the pistol to be carried inside the belt, outside the belt, etc. Moreover, the weight is barely a pound (17.8 ounces).

For 2019, SIG Sauer P365 Nitron Micro-Compact has an important new demand-driven feature: a manual safety and a corresponding new model number suffixed with “MS” for manual safety: 365-9-BXR3-MS. Consumers wanted the manual safety to prevent accidental discharge, so SIG Sauer listened and added it. The ambidextrous safety falls nicely to the inside of the thumb.

In spite of its compact dimensions, the SIG Sauer P365 Nitron Micro-Compact’s styling is very attractive. The dark gray Nitron-finished stainless steel slide is faceted at front, back and on top. This is practical for quick, snag-free movements, but it also evokes the very much in vogue stealth styling of military aircraft and warships.

In contrast to the faceted slide, the matte black stainless steel frame and matte black polymer grip are a continuity of well-placed and aesthetically pleasing curves optimized for comfort and snag-free movements. The fore-grip has scalloped finger rests while the back grip and docked beavertail are curved for optimal hand placement and support. The trigger frame slopes up toward the front and the flush fit diagonal magazine heel slopes up toward the back.

Speaking of triggers, the curved trigger’s pull is clean, crisp and happens when and where you’d expect it.

The SIG Sauer P365 Nitron Micro-Compact comes with X-RAY3 daytime/nighttime sights instead of simple sight posts or blades. The front sight is a green tritium lamp inside a green luminescent circle while the horizontally serrated square-notch rear site has green tritium inside of white luminescent circles. The benefit is that these daytime/nighttime gunsights permit the gun to be used under a variety of lighting conditions.

A very short under-muzzle accessory rail allows attaching a laser sight, etc. Also optional 12 and 15 round magazines bring total capacity to 13 and 16 rounds respectively, and the gun is rated for +P ammunition!

Owners compliment the SIG Sauer P365 Nitron Micro-Compact’s lighter than expected recoil and extol its accuracy. Its fit and finish is excellent. For such reasons, in 2019, the NRA awarded the P365 its coveted Handgun of the Year award, but it has won many other awards as well, and it’s also a top seller.
