The Silver Shadow Gilboa M43 is an AR-15 platform type semi-automatic pistol chambered for the 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge, making it easily compatible for police forces already using this type of ammunition. It is also thus compatible with their existing standard-issue AK-type magazines.

The Gilboa M43’s upper and lower receivers are machined from solid 7075-T6 aluminum alloy billet before receiving a hard anodized finish.

The chrome-lined 14.5” barrel has a 1 to 10 twist and is enshrouded in a fenestrated high-tech M-LOK handguard. Atop is a full-length Picatinny (MIL-STD-1913) accessory rail. At the end of the barrel is a factory muzzle brake drilled on all sides but the bottom. The reason it’s not drilled at the bottom is to prevent dust from kicking up when the M43 is fired from a prone position.

Inexplicably, the gun sells without sights though adjustable flip up sights appear to be a popular after-market option. On the other hand, a gas impingement system has been especially calibrated for the 7.62 x 39 mm cartridge, permitting the Gilboa M43 to nicely manage recoil.

The Gilboa M43 comes standard with a black triangular frame CTR buttstock that keeps weight down. Unusually, the mag release is inside the trigger guard ahead of the trigger. The gun also has a textured pistol grip, beveled magwell and a curved mag that slots right in.

With the stock fully extended, overall length is 35.4”, which drops to 32.0” with the stock folded. When the magazine is removed, the gun weighs only 5.17 pounds.

The Gilboa gets its name from a Mount Gilboa, part of the Gilboa mountain range in northern Israel. So perhaps it is no surprise that Silver Shadow is an Israeli company. And by the way, Silver Shadow is ISO 9001 certified. However, due to import restrictions, American market guns are not made there, but in the USA.
