The Smith & Wesson 610 is a large, comfortable, classically styled 6 shooter revolver. It’s chambered for 10 mm Auto rounds but also fires smaller .40 S&W rounds. The 610 was introduced in 1990 and produced until 1992 when production halted due to the declining popularity of 10 mm ammunition. However, thanks to demand, production resumed just six years later with some minor improvements including adding an internal safety lock. In 2019, the 610 was reintroduced anew.

If you like revolvers, then you’ll find the Smith & Wesson 610’s beauty breathtaking. This gun features classic stainless steel N-frame styling, beautifully milled components and great performance. The sights are a non-adjustable black front blade and an adjustable white-rimmed serrated rear site. Though the front blade isn’t adjustable, the owner can easily change the front sight simply by removing the sight’s small retaining pin.

The Smith & Wesson 610 comes in two barrel lengths: 4” and 6.5” giving total lengths of 9.5” and 12” respectively. But apart from the different barrels, the rest of the 610 is exactly the same.

Other than the black matte mini oval pattern rubber grip and some other smaller parts, the Smith & Wesson 610 is stainless steel. The rubber grip wraps completely around the handle for optimal comfort and can be removed easily by using an Allen wrench.

Other touch surfaces such as the metal safety lock and hammer have pyramid hatching for better tactile feel and traction.

The full-length underlug below the barrel has a dual purpose. It protects the ejector rod, and it provides extra mass in front that helps balance the gun’s upward kick on firing. Speaking of which, the 610 can be fired using both single action and double action.

Reloads are quick and easy thanks to the 6 round full moon clips that hold the rimless rounds. Open the cylinder barrel, which is cut for moon clips, pop in a moon clip loaded with ammo, close the cylinder, and you’re ready to go in a few stress-free seconds. Three moon clips come with the gun when purchased brand new.

In addition to firing 10 mm ammunition, the Smith & Wesson 610 also fires .40 S&W. The difference? The lighter, less powerful and slower .40 S&W rounds are also lower in recoil and price, which makes them great practice rounds.

The versatile, accurate 10 mm 6 shot revolver Smith & Wesson 610 is sure to be a very popular gun. And it’s Made in USA.
