The medium-size Smith & Wesson Model 66 6-round us a beautiful stainless-steel .357 Magnum / .38 S&W Special +P revolver. This single-action/double-action (SA/DA) gun is the stainless-steel version of the classic blued Model 19 that debuted in 1957.

The Model 66 has two different barrel length models that are otherwise identical. Let’s examine them:

The smallest of these fraternal twins is the Model 66 Combat Magnum with the 2.75” length barrel. This beauty has a stainless-steel frame, stainless-steel barrel and stainless-steel fluted cylinder. In front, you’ve got a nicely visible red dot ramp front sight pinned atop the integral sight base. In back is an adjustable rectangular-notched sight.

It has a black synthetic grip with oval texturing and mild indents for the finger recesses. The grip’s butt is gently curved along the bottom. It has the Smith & Wesson logo embossed (in black) on either side. This gun is 7.8” long overall and weighs 33.5 ounces.

The larger twin is simply called the Model 66. It has a 4.25” length barrel, 9.6” overall length and 36.9-ounce weight. It has the same materials and black synthetic grip with oval texturing and mild indents for the finger recesses. However, the grip’s butt is squared. Also, the front sight is the same red ramp, but the rear sight is a rectangular-notch white outline target adjustable type.

These guns have a color case hardened hammer and a color case hardened trigger! The external hammer spurs are horizontally grooved with light serrations. They also has long serrations across the top strap and the barrel.
