The new for 2019 Sol Invictus TAC-9 Modular Pistol is an impressive semi-automatic blowback pistol/carbine that uses a reliable all-steel bolt and high-capacity Glock magazines.

Unlike many other American arms manufacturers that are often in the northeast, Sol Invictus is in Melbourne, Florida. The company’s Latin name means “Invincible Sun.” Sol Invictus was the sun god of the Roman Empire and the patron of Roman soldiers.

The TAC-9 Modular Pistol is an update of the previous Intratec TEC-9 gun. The TEC-9 was originally designed for motorcycle police officers who needed something compact that could be easily transported in their saddle bags but then quickly assembled into something far more powerful and capable. That the TAC-9 uses Glock magazines makes it logical equipment for police already equipped with semi-automatic Glock pistols.

At the heart of the TAC-9 gun is modularity and versatility. It has four different chamber variants: 9 mm, .40 caliber, 10 mm and .45 ACP. Quickly interchangeable barrels are offered in lengths of 3.5”, 8.5” and carbine length 16”. These gun barrels can be changed without any special tools. The barrel twist is a 1 in 10 ratio. All are finished with Nitride imparting extra wear and tear protection along with excellent corrosion resistance.

The TAC-9’s entire action is contained within the upper receiver, which is aluminum, and it features a full-length Mil-STD 1913 rail that makes mounting various optics easy.

One variant features a folding Arm Brace that works in concert with the rear trunnion.

The TAC-9 comes with two 33 round magazines. Its slick trigger makes it easy to fire all 33 rounds in about five or six seconds.
