The Springfield Armory 1911 TRP (Tactical Response Pistol) .45 ACP semi-autos are a lineup of six models in stainless-steel and black color schemes. And they’re good looking with beautiful grips, upturned beavertails, loop hammers, radial ported triggers, etc. These feature-rich 1911s are imposing, impressive and practical for target work, self-defense and more.

All feature a pair of single-stack magazines, forged barrels, forged slides and forged frames. Forging makes for better quality and durability over casting that’s used by some other companies.

The series has the 1911 TRP in black (slide and frame), 1911 TRP in stainless-steel (slide and frame) and the railed 1911 TRP Operator in black (slide and frame). Each has an identical California-compliant model.

The 1911 TRP available in black or in stainless has a long 5” barrel, 5.7” height and 8.6” overall length” long stainless-steel 1:16 twist ratio match grade forged bull barrel that has a fully supported ramp. Both the slide and frame are forged carbon steel. The steel frame gives it substantial heft, so to no surprise, the gun weighs 42 ounces. Atop the slide are no-snag, low-profile 3-dot combat sights with Tritium inserts for day or night use.

Both slide and frame have a self-lubricating chemically bonded Black-T polymer finish that protects against impacts and rust. This TRP also gets the Springfield Armory National Match full-length two-piece stainless-steel recoil spring guide rod.

The slide features forward leaning grip serrations in front and back. In back is a loop hammer, ambidextrous thumb safety and below that a grip safety. The circular ported curved trigger has vertical serrations along its concave face. It also gets great looking G10 grips and ships with two 7-round magazines.

The 1911 TRP Operator is the third model. It’s largely the same as its two siblings. It’s all black and has a fully supported ramp match grade bull barrel. But you’ll notice a 3-slot MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail under the recoil spring system. It has a one-piece National Match full-length guide rod. The only other difference is the upgraded sights. You get tritium in front and tritium in back. The target type rear sight is fully adjustable for windage and elevation.

Each of these three models has an identical California-compliant version. Thus, there are six 1911 TRPs in all. The Springfield Armory 1911 TRP series is Made in USA at the company’s Geneseo, Illinois location.
