The Springfield Armory M1A 6.5 Creedmore is a serious, modern, long-range, gas-operated match rifle built around a 22” long barrel, 10+1 capacity, match trigger and fully adjustable Archangel Precision composite stock. These elements combine to deliver accurate 1,000+ yard shots.

This new for 2017 high-performance gun has three models. Two use the Archangel Precision Adjustable Stock. One is all matte black (other than the stainless barrel) and the other has a field dark earth (FDE) stock and upper forearm with everything else in matte black (comb, butt pad, upper receiver, sights, barrel, flash suppressor, etc.). This stock has some heft and brings weight to 11 pounds 4 ounces and overall length, thanks to the adjustable length of pull, is 45.0” to 46.3”.

The Archangel stock is the rifle’s most significant differentiating element. It has sci-fi looks and a zigzag butt stock. Let’s discuss it for a moment. It is fully adjustable for cheek and length of pull. Both adjustments are done easily via thumbwheels that are nicely positioned for easy access. The cheek riser can rise or lower an astonishing 1.75” in finely tuned .05” increments. Length of pull adjusts from 13.5” to 14.8”. The stock’s total length is 33.625” and weight is 4.2 pounds.

This high-strength polymer stock is made of carbon fiber reinforced with fiberglass. It has four integrated steel inserts for QD sling swivels one can purchase separately and includes two sling swivel studs. A Picatinny rail resides under the forend, but it also includes an extended rail cover for when not in use. The butt stock has a lockable storage compartment.

A third model has the same barrel, sights, etc. It is also black, but it uses a standard non-adjustable black composite weatherproof butt stock that is California DOJ regulation compliant. It has texturing at the grip and forend and has both front and rear swivel rings. The only other differences is its weight decreases to 9 pounds 3 ounces and the gun’s overall length is fixed at 44.33”.

A great long-distance gun needs excellent sights. The M1A 6.5 Creedmore delivers with a National Match .062" Blade front sight and a match-grade non-hooded .0520 Aperture rear sight. Naturally, the rear sight is fully adjustable with the two knobs on either side. It has 1/2 MOA windage adjustments and MOE elevation adjustments.

The 22” length stainless steel barrel has a medium weight design. It’s a threaded National Match barrel with a 1 to 8” twist and four grooves. Attached to the front is a long compensator ported flash suppressor.

The two-stage trigger is National Match tuned to 4.5 pounds of pull pressure. It’s encircled by the rifle’s safety and a trigger guard that’s lightening ported in front and back.
