The Springfield Armory M1A Loaded Rifles are chambered .308 Win (7.62x51mm NATO) or 6.5 Creedmore. These semi-autos are civilian legal modern versions of the US Army’s iconic M14 originals that were once standard issue from 1959 to 1970. Springfield takes its standard M1As and then upgrades them with competition shooting features to produce the M1A Loaded series.
At the core of each M1A Loaded gun is a fully adjustable for windage and elevation rear sight, a two-stage National Match trigger with a 4.5 to 5-pound trigger pull weight, a 10-round detachable box magazine and more! The M1A has a 22” long National Match medium weight 6-grove carbon steel barrel with a 1:11” twist ratio.
The front sight is a National Match .062” blade sight paired to a Match Grade non-hooded .0520 aperture rear sight that’s 1/2 MOA adjustable for windage and MOA adjustable for elevation.
There are three .308 models that differ by stock. The standard black or FDE composite stock brings overall length to 41.25” and weighs 8 pounds 8 ounces. The walnut stock version extends length to 44.33” and bumps up weight to 9 pounds 8 ounces.
The 6.5 Creedmore models include a black composite stock variant that measures 44.33” overall and weighs 9 pounds 3 ounces.
There are also several Precision Rifle Stock (PRS) based variants featuring high-strength glass reinforced Archangel carbon fiber stocks. These have a pair of thumbwheels to adjust length-of-pull by up to 1.5” and the cheek riser. For .308, weight is typically 11 pounds 4 ounces. For 6.5 Creedmore, the ensemble weighs 11 pounds 3 ounces. In both calibers, you can get the PRS in either matte black or FDE and, in both cases, overall length is 45” to 46.25”.
Additionally, there are California-compliant variant sporting a radial ported muzzle brake instead of the standard model’s long flash suppressor. New York-compliant models have neither suppressor nor muzzle brake.
