The Springfield Armory TRP 10 mm RMR is an imposing M1911 type semi-automatic pistol that comes in both 5” and 6” barrel variants. What makes the powerful TRP 10mm RMR different from other Springfield M1911 types is the standard American-made Trijicon Ruggedized Miniature Reflex (RMR) red dot night sight standardized atop the forged slide in between the traditional iron sights. The RMR is fully adjustable for windage and height with just a flat head screwdriver.

This is a professional match competition gun built around the high-power 10 mm round. Thus the slide, barrel and frame are all steel giving the device a solid heft and matching structural strength. Both slide and frame are Black-T finished for enhanced durability while the barrel is nitrided.

Springfield Armory machines many of its parts and then hand finishes them to give them an heirloom quality. But it also pays careful attention to aesthetics and safety ensuring the gun is elegant and purposeful. For instance, the grip safety flows gracefully into an upward curve that becomes the beavertail.

The curved lightweight trigger has vertical ridging presumably for enhanced lateral feel. Speaking of curves, the trigger guard is round without a single straight edge and surrounds the crisp, clean-breaking Gen-2 speed trigger. Just ahead of it is the small under-muzzle Picatinny attachment accessory rail for laser sights, etc.

Most modern semi-automatic pistols have plenty polymer. But not the primarily steel Springfield Armory TRP 10 mm RMR. The main polymer items are the paired wavy line G-10 grip panels that climb all the way up to the slide, providing a pleasing rest point even for your thumbs and the nicely checkered texturing along the front and back of the grip.

Now for some key dimensions. The 5” barrel gun is 8.6” overall. Height is 6.4”, width 1.3” and weight is 2.75 pounds! The 6” barrel TRP 10 mm RMR is 9.6” overall and the weight goes up 6 ounces to 3.125 pounds, but the height and width are the same! The last notable difference between the two versions is that the 6” barrel gun has an olive drab frame and black G-10 grip panels.

In either 5” or 6” barrel length, the gun comes with two stainless steel 8 round magazines, and both of those are bottomed with slam pads for better magazine grips and thus faster reloads. They also fit flush up into the magwell.
