The Taurus G2C is a single-action with restrike compact semi-automatic. The striker-fired gun is available in 12+1 capacity 9 mm Luger or 10+1 capacity .40 S&W.

Key dimensions include a 1.2” width, 5.1” height, 6.3” overall length. All this envelopes a 3.2” long barrel and the aforementioned 12-round or 10-round double-stack magazine. There’s a single-slot Mil-STD 1913 Picatinny accessory rail under the recoil spring housing. The gun has good looks derived from its functionality. For instance, the slide front is cut down some to cut weight and bulk. The back of the slide has diagonal slide serrations. Key controls (magazine release, thumb safety and slide catch) are on the left. Actually, the magazine release is reversible, so it can be on the right too. Thanks to the polymer frame, weight is only 22 ounces.

There’s a score of models. These share the same design, dimensions and safety features. Where they differ from one is by color and/or sights. Let’s cover the sights first, then the colors.

There are two choices of three-dot sights. You can either get a fixed white-dot front sight and fully adjustable for elevation and windage twin white-dot rear sight on the less expensive models or Ameriglo Night Sights on the more expensive ones. The Ameriglo front sight has an orange surround that’s paired with a drift-adjustable rear sight with white surrounds around green dots.

The G2S models come with either a matte black or matte stainless slide. The frame can be one of several colors including purple, cyan, gray, matte black, etc.

What’s particularly nice is the trio of safety features. These include a visual loaded chamber indicator, trigger safety and a striker block safety. The G2C also packs another interesting and unusual feature: that’s a restrike capability. Got a round that doesn’t fire? Instead of racking the gun and ejecting the round like you would on almost any other semi-automatic, just pull the trigger again. Speaking of which, trigger pull is 5 to 9 pounds.

The frame has some nice finger recesses on each side. One is above the front of the trigger guard. Taurus calls this one the Taurus Memory Pad. Another is atop the grip. The grip mixes smooth surfaces with aggressive textured zones. It’s a good look, and it functions well providing the right grip when you need it.
