The Thompson Center Encore Pro Hunter XT is a family of four muzzle-loading .50 caliber single-shot rifles. The quartet are identical except their finish and stock configurations. We’ll come back to that shortly.

The Encore Pro Hunter XTs center on a long 28” barrel. It uses a Speed Breach XT breech plug. Length of pull is 14” and overall length is 42.5”. The .50 caliber barrel has a relatively slow 1:28” twist ratio, but this also makes the gun easier to muzzle load using the Quick Load Accurizor (QLA) system.

XTs use 209 primer for ignition. The steel sights are adjustable. They include a twin white dot rear sight paired with a high-visibility fiber optic insert front sight.

The XT uses Thompson Center’s Speed Breech XT breech plug that facilitates easy cleaning. It simply requires a 90-degree turn to open and a reversal of the same to lock it securely back in.

The black FlexTech stock looks and feels impressive. But it also functions impressively in the way it reduces recoil by over 40% thanks to the thick black SIMS Limbsaver buttpad that literally provides backup.

The ambidextrous T/C Swing Hammer makes the gun easy to cock even when the scope is mounted. And the corrosion-resistant Weather Shield coating is extraordinarily strong.

The lineup includes four models that are all Made in USA. All four are identical except the metal and stock finish. Two use stainless steel metal parts. Of these, one uses a Black Flex Tech stock. The other uses the RT AP Camo Stock. The two other models pair a Weather Shield finish with the same two stock options as just mentioned.
