The lightweight Thompson/Center T/CR22 semi-automatic rimfire rifle offers a nice level of content in a 17” barreled (1:15” twist) .22 LR package. Good as it is, there is little that pushes the envelope, and that’s not a bad thing as TC thus keeps the price affordable.

There are six models in current production. All come standard with a 10-round detachable box magazine, and for all, the gun’s overall length is just over double the length of the barrel and comes in at 35”.

These guns feature an 11-slot Picatinny-style rail for scopes that bridges the ejection port. They also come standard with a fixed green fiber optic front sight paired with an adjustable rear peep sight.

Weight is only 4.4 pounds and length of pull is 13.75” for five of the models. The one exception is the model with the blued barrel and hardwood stock. This stock is quite fetching and has a lovely profile. It’s a light colored wood rather than the deeper walnut color common to many other stocks. The light coloring gives it an appearance that’s classic while simultaneously evoking modernity common to Scandinavian designs. Length of pull is 14.0” and weight is 5.1”.

So now let’s get back to the five other models. Each has a near-vertical grip with a boot-shaped butt stock. These quintets are identical except their color motif/camouflage that sheath their stocks. All have a blued barrel. Beyond that, the non-camo color choices are FDE with a Black Grit Finish and OD Green Composite. The three camo choices are the woodsy Realtree Edge, disruptive Mossy Oak Break-Up Country and the desert palette TRUETIMBER STRATA Camo.

The lightweight Thompson/Center T/CR22 semi-automatic is affordable and attractive.
