Thompson/Center’s flagship bolt-action rifle is the 3+1 Venture II lineup. It’s an affordable all-around performer designed for harsh weather conditions with features like the durable corrosion-resistant Weather Shield finish. Caliber options include .223/5.56 NATO, .243 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmore, .308 Winchester, .350 Legend, .270 Winchester, 7 mm Remington Magnum, .30-06 Springfield and finally the .300 Winchester Magnum.

All nine models are configured one way: blued metal parts such as the barrel and receiver that’s paired with a black composite stock with Hogue overmolded panels. All have a 13.5” length of pull.

The .223/5.56 NATO, .243 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmore, .308 Winchester and .350 Legend have a 22” long barrel and are 42” in overall length. The .223/5.56 NATO weighs 7.4 pounds while the other four weigh 7.3 pounds.

The .270 Winchester, 7 mm Remington Magnum, .30-06 Springfield and.300 Winchester Magnum have 24” long barrels and are 44.5” long overall. They weigh 7.5 pounds each.

T/C swears the Weather Shield it coats on the receiver, barrel and other key Venture II metal parts is fifty times more corrosion-resistant than plain stainless steel. Hopefully that’s true!

The Venture II’s three-lug bolt has a 60-degree rotation for ample scope clearance even when wearing thick gloves.

The Venture II’s match grade barrels are 5R rifled. 5R provides less bullet deformation and fouls less. With fewer grooves, these tubes are also easier to clean and their muzzles are threaded. The .223/5.56 NATO has 1/2”-28 UNEF threading while all its siblings have 5/8”-24 UNEF threading.

Hogue overmolded all-weather traction panels grace the stock nicely. In back is a thick recoil-mitigating buttpad. Both the forend and the pistol grip are slim to give you great control and easy maneuverability when you need it. Internally the stock has aluminum pillar bedding supports the action thereby increasing stability and accuracy while remaining lightweight.

The Venture II also has T/C’s lightly actuated crisp Generation II trigger system with 3 to 4 pounds of pull.

All these different Venture II features and traits combine to deliver guaranteed 1” at 100 yards 3-shot group MOA accuracy with premium factory ammo. Speaking of which, Venture II rifles come with a 3-round nearly flush mounting box magazine.
