The Winchester Model 70 Super Grade bolt-action rifle covers 14 calibers (e.g., 270 Win, 30-06 Spfld) in both long-action and short-action and 22”, 24” to 26” barrel variants. The 70 Super Grade is a good-looking rifle, with a brush polished blued sporter barrel and receiver mated to a lush, eye-catching Grade V/VI satin polished black walnut stock backed by a recoil absorbing Pachmayr Decelerator pad.

The barrel has a sporter contour. The front has a recessed target crown that protects the bore’s rifling. The black walnut stock has nice stylish detailing such as 20 LPI (lines per inch) cut checkering and is punctuated by a pair of steel sling swivel studs. In back, the stock has a raised cheekpiece sculpted with nice lower curves. Adding elegance, the forend is capped by an ebony tip.

The receiver is forged from steel. It has an integrated recoil lug optimized for long-range accuracy and is conveniently drilled and tapped for scopes. Its claw extractor grabs spent casings ensuring the gun’s reliability. The bolt’s controlled round feed actively manages rounds as they move up from the magazine to the chamber. The manually adjustable blade ejector helps you manage how far the spent casings eject.

The three-position safety (fire, firing pin blocked and safe) is ergonomically placed and provides both visual and tactile indication when the gun is safe and when it’s not.

This Winchester also incorporates Winchester’s highly accurate MOA Trigger System. It’s factory set to 3.5 pounds of pull pressure and cleverly designed so the trigger travels only half the distance of the actuator. The trigger is finely tuned and superbly predictable, with practically zero take-up, zero creep and zero overtravel.

The Super Grade’s caliber choices are 243 Win, 6.5 Creedmore, 7mm-08 REM, 308 WIN, 270 WIN, 30-06 Spfld, 300 WSM, 270 WSM, 280 REM, 6.8 Western, 7mm REM Mag, 300 WIN Mag, 338 WIN Mag and 264 WIN Mag.

The first four (243 Win, 6.5 Creedmore, 7mm-08 REM, 308 WIN) have 22” barrels and measure 42.25” overall. They weigh 7 pounds 12 ounces. Except the 4+1 capacity Creedmore, the rest are 5+1.

The 24” barrel Model 70 Super Grades are the 270 WIN, 30-06 Spfld, 280 REM, 300 WSM, 270 WSM and 6.8 Western. They span 44.75” overall. Except the 6.8 Western, they weigh 8 pounds 4 ounces while the 6.8 weighs 8 pounds even. The 270 WIN, 30-06 Spfld and 280 REM are 5+1 capacity and the 300 WSM, 270 WSM and 6.8 Western are 3+1 capacity.

Finally, the 26” barrel models (7mm REM Mag, 300 WIN Mag, 338 WIN Mag and 264 WIN Mag) measure 46.75” overall and weigh 8 pounds 8 ounces. All are 3+1 capacity.
