The new for 2019 Winchester Wildcat .22 LR rimfire semi-automatic autoloader rifle is a very compelling, fun, well-designed, lightweight beauty with brawn in an easy-to-maintain package. Here’s why.

It comes in only one configuration and one color combo. The configuration is .22 LR rimfire with an 18” matte blued button-rifled steel barrel, gray composite stock and matte black composite receiver and with red accents at key points, but more about the red in a moment. The gun comes with one 10 round rotary magazine.

This standardization allows Winchester to pack extensive goodness in the package while keeping the price low.

The Winchester Wildcat .22 LR is also feature-rich. For instance, there is a long 10 sleeper Picatinny MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail for scopes, etc. And there is a smaller accessory rail tucked into the front of the fore stock for attaching a laser, bipod or other items.

The Winchester Wildcat .22 LR is eye-catching. The space frame design butt stock has the structural integrity and rigidity of a solid stock without the weight.

Other key dimensions: overall length is 36.25”, length of pull is 13.5”, twist rate is 1 to 16, and most impressively, weight is only 4.0 pounds!

Purposeful details abound. Note how the slide lock safety, magazine and lower receiver assembly grip, etc., are all either red or feature prominent red accents. Want to release the lower receiver assembly? Push the red button at the back of the gun, then pull down on the lower receiver assembly, which is remarkably easy, requires no tools and takes all of an instant. Reassembly is just as fast.

Lowering the lower receiver assembly then leads to another “ah ha!” eureka moment. This assembly has two different size Allen wrenches already stored onboard. Use one to remove the stock and the other to adjust the fully adjustable ghost ring rear sight. Speaking of sights, in front is a ramp post sight.

The gun was designed for right-hand and left-hand users, thus the manual safety can be reversed and the butt stock is ambidextrous.

While the Winchester Wildcat .22 LR doesn’t come with spacers, both the back of the butt stock and top are ready for spacers giving you the ability to adjust comb and length of pull to what you want for optimal cheek to stock contact, eye alignment, etc. You’ll also notice nice grip patterns on the fore stock and on the pistol grip.

Front and rear sling eyelets are molded into the polymer stock just behind the front accessory rail and at the back corner of the butt stock. To mitigate scuffs and snags, the bottom of the grip has a nice black rubber bad and the fore stock accessory rail comes with a removable rail guard.
