The Latest Rifles for 2024

Some might say this year’s SHOT was a little disappointing, but the number of 2024 rifles introduced were fairly significant.

Not too many people expected SHOT Show 2024 to be full of surprises, and for the most part, it wasn’t. However, manufacturers still introduced some interesting rifles. Quite a few were simply new versions or chamberings, but a few manufacturers brought out some completely new rifles for 2024. Some of these 2024 rifles came from directions one would never expect, such as Smith & Wesson introducing a lever action and Taurus bringing out a rifle. Regardless, here are some rifles you should consider this year.

Browning X-Bolt 2

The Browning X-Bolt has been one of the most popular bolt-action rifles since its introduction back in 2008. This rifle has excellent accuracy right out of the box. However, despite its precision, Browning decided there is always room for improvement. So, the company has brought out the X-Bolt 2. To start, Browning improved the interaction between the rifle and the shooter with its Vari-Tech stock. This new stock allows shooters to adjust length of pull, comb height and grip angle for the perfect fit. It also comes with rubber overmolding on the grip and forend to provide a secure hold in any weather condition. Other improvements include a thicker Inflex recoil pad, adjustable DLX trigger and the option of a carbon-fiber barrel. The X-Bolt 2 continues Browning’s promise of Total Accuracy.

Bond Arms LVRB

Once before, Bond Arms broke from its derringer roots by introducing a semi-auto pistol. The company has done it again with the LVRB lever-action rifle. This rifle isn’t just a cowboy gun with tactical furniture. It is a completely rethought lever action that uses modern technology to revamp pretty much everything. To start, Bond uses a patent-pending cam system to create a short throw lever that allows the use of AR magazines. Other features include an ambidextrous magazine release, an out-of-battery safety, a manual crossbolt safety, a grip safety and a Magpul buttstock. Of course, as a tactical rifle, it comes with an AR-style handguard for easy attachment of lights, lasers and optics.

Bushmaster XM15A2 50th Anniversary rifle

Bushmaster has been making rifles and parts for 50 years. So, the company decided to celebrate its Gold Anniversary by bringing out the XM15A2. This AR rifle is a throwback to the original model, when sights were made of iron and were part of the carry handle. In fact, Bushmaster brought back phosphate finished, chrome lined barrels and bolt carriers to rival the durability of the Windham, Maine originals. The XM15A2 features an A2-style heat shield, fixed stock and pistol grip. In fact, everything on this American-made rifle is set to the original, right down to the 20-inch barrel, Mil-Spec trigger and A2 style sights. The only change is the 50th anniversary logo in gold on the lower receiver.

Available in .30-30 Win., .350 Legend and .410, the Big Badger is a break-action gun featuring a steel rod stock with an adjustable comb and a Picatinny forend and rail. What’s best with this 2.5-pound rifle is that it folds in half for easy carry or storage. When folded, the Big Badger measures approximately 19.25-inches long by 6-inches wide.

CVA Cascade SR-80 Scout Rifle

While some might disagree on the fine points, most know that a scout rifle needs to be lightweight, comfortable to carry, quick to shoulder and powerful enough to take down targets. That was the goal with the CVA Cascade SR-80 Scout rifle. The SR-80 weighs only 7.3 pounds with an 18-inch barrel. This provides maneuverability for any use. It also comes with a 70-degree bolt throw, rear peep sight, front sight and a muzzle brake. To start, the SR-80 comes in .308 Win. and .350 Legend for less than a grand.

Hammerli Arm Force B1

Over the last few years, multiple companies have brought straight-pull rifles to the market. While this action isn’t new, many American shooters aren’t familiar with it. Well, Hammerli Arms plans on changing that with its Force B1 toggle action rimfire rifle. This very fast to use rifle comes with an adjustable stock, M-Lok under handguard and a quick-change barrel system that lets users go from .22 LR to .22 WMR quickly without tools. Henry Supreme Lever Action

This year sure seemed like the year of the lever actions, particularly those with tactical aspects. This includes the Henry Supreme. While this rifle looks like a standard wood and blue lever-action rifle, it comes standard with several tactical features. To start, Henry chambered this rifle in .223 Rem. And .300 Blackout. The company then added a threaded barrel for attaching a suppressor. Finally, Henry shortened the stroke significantly, which allows it to use Pmags. This rifle also features an internal hammer and an adjustable trigger, making it one of the most revolutionary firearms to come from Henry.

KelTec Sub2000 Gen3

Pistol caliber carbines are often popular because they’re light, compact and offer very little recoil. Well, KelTec took that to the extreme with the Sub2000 Gen3. This minimalist 9mm semi-auto weighs a mere 4.2 pounds. It also uses an extremely reliable straight blowback system that is easy to use and maintain. Of course, it comes optics ready with a top rail, with a bottom rail for other accessories. However, its most interesting feature is that this carbine folds in half for storage. And the gun twists as it folds, meaning that optics can stay on the gun and ready for action.

Marlin Classic Series 1894

It wasn’t that long ago when shooters thought Marlin might be no more. Well, Ruger bought the company back and it looks stronger than ever. In fact, Marlin recently introduced its Classic Series Model 1894. This .44 Mag. lever-action rifle harkens back to years ago, with its American black walnut stock and forend and richly blued receiver and barrel. Marlin Dark Series 1895

Another reason to believe Marlin is coming back strong is the introduction of its Dark Series 1895. These rifles could be Marlin’s biggest jump from tradition the company has ever made. However, it is a pretty neat jump. The Marlin Dark Series begins with a Nylon-reinforced polymer stock and an anodized aluminum handguard, both of which include M-LOK slots for attaching accessories. The buttstock even has a cheek riser for use with optics. As far as sights, it comes standard with a fiber-optic with a tritium ring front and an adjustable ghost ring rear. However, its Picatinny top rail makes mounting optics easy. It even comes with a threaded barrel and a muzzle brake, which can be replaced with a suppressor. Currently, shooters can pick this rifle up in .45-70, but it will soon be available in .30-30 and .44 Mag.

Primary Weapons Systems UXR

One rifle that can turn into more than one rifle seems like a good idea. At least PWS thought so by bringing out its UXR (User Xchange Rifle). On the patent-pending Xchange system, the upper receiver is the only serialized component. Everything else can be reconfigured for shooters’ needs. The UXR features an adjustable cheek plate, ambidextrous selector switch, magazine release and charging handle. It also comes with an adjustable buttstock that can fold either left or right. However, it’s the proprietary internal operation that allows users to change caliber and barrels without the need to adjust the gas system. The UXR will be available soon in 5.56 and .300 Blackout, but PWS plans to bring out this rifle in .308 Win. and 8.6 Blackout later.

The XM24 features a 26-inch, stainless-steel barrel that has been air-gauged and cryo-treated for harmonics and accuracy, before being nitride finished. This rifle also features an oversized bolt handle and single-stage TriggerTech Primary trigger. The RRA XM24 isn’t cheap, but the company guarantees a ½ M.O.A. when using premium ammunition.

Smith & Wesson Model 1854

Smith & Wesson had been teasing a new product in the weeks leading up to SHOT. It also features a 19.25-inch threaded barrel, gold bear front sight, XS Sights ghost ring rear sight, large loop operating lever and flat trigger design. Uberti 1873 Hunter Rifles

Uberti is well known for building working replicas of Old West firearms, often seen at cowboy action shoots and Civil War reenactments. For 2024, the company has brought the legendary 1873-pattern rifle into the 21st century with the 1873 Hunter Rifle series. With this rifle, Uberti has created a quality replica of the gun that “Won the West” for the modern hunter. Chambered in .45 Colt and .44 Mag., this rifle differs forward of the receiver. Uberti designers used the half-octagon barrel profile to install a conventional Picatinny rail. This makes adding an optic much easier, which means much better for hunting.
