Model 1816 U.S. Percussion Musket made by Springfield Armory ; c. dated 1839 Good condition original antique US Model 1816 musket in .69 caliber. Originally manufactured as a flintlock and later arsenal converted to percussion. Lock is marked "SPRINGFIELD” with the American eagle and dated 1839. Barrel has V, . Breech tang is also dated 1839 and CB stamped into the trigger guard. Metal has nice looking brown patina with some scattered bright areas. Smooth bore is dark.Barrel length is 42" and total length on gun is 58".. Stock has nice looking original finish and shows some normal wear and handling marks and has Tanner Fitch name is engraved onto the butt stock.
