Why Swap Out Your AK Trigger?
Let’s face it: most classic stock AK-47 triggers have a long take-up and reset, and have a mushy, gritty feel when they break. That’s why so many AK owners make a trigger upgrade a priority. Although rugged, they’re just not known for precision. Upgrade or replace your AK trigger today and feel the difference.
AK Trigger Group
An AK trigger mechanism is a fire control system housed in the receiver. They are hammer-fired, and semi-auto or full-auto depending on the variant. Main components include:
- Trigger: As with any firearm, this is what you pull to fire the weapon.
- Hammer: This is spring-loaded and strikes the firing pin when the trigger is depressed.
- Disconnector: Resets the trigger after a shot is fired, and ensures the hammer doesn’t follow the bolt carrier forward.
- Sear (Full-Auto Only): Only in select-fire AKs, this holds the hammer as long as the trigger is depressed for fully-automatic firing.
- Trigger Spring (Shepherd’s Hook or Retainer Plate): This keeps the hammer and trigger pins in place. Some modern setups use retaining plates for easier installation.
